Cleaning and preparing furniture before putting it in self-storage is essential to ensure its longevity and maintain its excellent condition in Panama.
General Preparation
Gather microfiber cloths, mild detergent, a vacuum, polish, and protective wraps. Thoroughly dust all surfaces to remove dirt and hidden cobwebs.
Cleaning by Furniture Type
For upholstery, gently blot stains. On wood, use mild soap and polish. For leather, apply a specific cleaner and conditioner. On glass, clean in circular motions to avoid streaks.
Extra Protection
If possible, disassemble large furniture to save space and reduce the risk of damage. Store screws in labeled bags attached to each piece.
Proper Storage
Cover furniture with breathable, loose covers to prevent moisture. Stack vertically and use moving blankets between pieces to prevent scratches, preferably in climate-controlled units.
