On October 16th, in celebration of World Food Day, the indigenous community of Ipetí Emberá in Alto Bayano will prepare the largest patacón in the world. This historic event is led by Impacta and will be recorded by Guinness World Records.
A World Record in Panama
For the first time in history, a 220-pound patacón will be cooked. To achieve this feat, plantains grown directly in the indigenous community of Ipetí Emberá, located in Chepo, Panama City, will be used. In addition to celebrating local cuisine, the event will provide a platform for 150 native female artisans to sell their products under the Jumara Juwa brand, accompanied by traditional dancers who will showcase their rich culture.
Fun Fact
To make it into the Guinness World Records book, the patacón must reach a minimum weight of 100 kilograms (approximately 220 pounds).
