We know how unpredictable life is and a situation may arise where you need to store your belongings for an extended period. Whatever the reason, long-term storage requires a special approach.
Use New and Sturdy Boxes
Remember, those boxes are going into the storage space for a long time and must be of the highest quality to ensure they do not deteriorate. Instead of old boxes, invest in new, sturdy boxes that can hold your goods effectively. We also recommend durable plastic containers, as they easily stack and help preserve your belongings.
Seal Clothes and Fabrics
Storing clothes and soft items like cushions in vacuum-sealed bags is not only a great space-saving trick, but it also keeps them fresh and protected over time.
Furniture and Mattresses
To make sure your furniture stays in top condition, ensure it is clean and dust-free before moving it. Vacuum upholstered pieces and clean leather items. Additionally, clean all mattresses with an upholstery cleaner, vacuum both sides, and invest in a good quality mattress cover. Never place any items on top of the mattress.
Prepare Your Storage Unit
Before stacking boxes in your storage unit, make sure it is clean. Sweep the floor or use a vacuum to remove dirt. We recommend placing boxes on an elevated platform (like wooden pallets) rather than placing them directly on the floor of the unit to protect your long-term items.
