Dust is a part of life. No matter what you do, you will have dust in your home, and storage units in Panama can accumulate it too. If you don’t prepare properly, you could end up dealing with dusty furniture and belongings. Learn how to keep everything pristine.
Clean items before storing
Thoroughly clean all items before putting them in the unit. You will be surprised how much this helps fight dust. Use a product specifically designed to prevent dust from sticking to your belongings, although that doesn’t mean they are protected for years without other measures.
Cover large items
Covering furniture and mattresses minimizes the likelihood of dust settling on them. Using fabric tarps prevents dust from accumulating while reducing the chances of scratches. You can also use shrink wrap to protect them from bumps during the move. If storing a mattress, ask about our protectors in our online store.
Buy bins and boxes
For smaller items, do not leave them on bare shelves. Put them in plastic bins to prevent dust penetration. Cardboard boxes are better for items that need to “breathe” like fabrics or books. Be sure to wrap items well inside the box to protect them from breaking and add an extra barrier against dust.
Pro Tip
If you take your items out of storage, make sure to wipe them down with a cloth before moving them into your home so you don’t bring any specks of dust with you. Talk to our branch experts for more advice!
