What is the best way to wrap them?
One of the best options is to use a cardboard or wire reel to wrap the string of lights, similar to how you would store a garden hose. When you finish wrapping, plug the ends of the cord together so they don’t hang down and tangle.
Storing Icicle Lights
Flatten the box they came in and wrap the string of lights around the cardboard. If you don’t have the original box, find a piece of cardboard of similar length and store it in a plastic container inside your self storage unit.
Net Lights
Net lights aren’t hard to store. Use a long, narrow storage bag, folding them like a piece of fabric. Avoid using the original cardboard boxes as they can be a headache.
Additional Accessories
If your light string is battery operated, remove the batteries before storing. Pack extension cords and power strips together with the lights to avoid frustration next season.
